Alex is a senior majoring in Journalism and Writing, with a minor in Anthropology. He was born and raised on a cattle farm in rural Rappahannock County, Virginia—a laid-back country town with no McDonalds, no Wal-Mart, and no stop lights. After being admitted into the School of Media Arts and Design his freshman year at JMU, Alex worked for three time Pulitzer Prize winning editor Jim Gannon as a feature writer, and his writing has since been published in the Rappahannock News, the Culpeper Star Exponent and National Public Radio, among others. Alex hopes to work with National Geographic when he grows up
Caroline is a senior Media Arts and Design major with a concentration in Corporate Communication and a minor in Art. Hailing from Wethersfield, Connecticut she journeyed south for the warm weather and friendly people. In addition to designing for JMURJ, she photographs for James Madison University’s yearbook, The Bluestone. Graduating in May 2010 she hopes to move to the west coast and pursue advertising.
Jessica is a senior SMAD major with a concentration in print journalism and a minor in Creative Writing. She hopes to be a photojournalist for a magazine or newspaper and loves every kind of photography from portraits to sports. She is currently a photographer for The Breeze, University Unions and of course, JMURJ. Last summer, she interned at Richmond Magazine and gained invaluable experience working for a widely distributed publication.
Patrick is a senior International Affairs major with a minor in Asian Studies. In 2006 he left his suburban shack in Georgia to seek his fame and fortune at college and find the meaning of life. In addition to doing photography for JMURJ, he writes and shoots for the breeze as well as the Marching Royal Dukes. After graduating in May of 2010, he hopes to find a job where he makes money doing this photography thing.
Courtney is a senior Technical and Scientific Communications Major with a minor in Computer Information Systems. She loves designing websites and graphics. She grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where she hopes to reside after college.
Blythe is a Senior Marketing Major in the College of Business. As an Army Brat, she doesn't have a hometown and has spent the majority of her life moving from state to state, but she is currently stationed in Springfield, VA. Besides the JMU Research Journal, Blythe has spent the last two years highly involved in Madison Marketing Association, spending her Junior year as the VP of Fundraising and now currently serves as President. At the moment she is unsure of exactly what she wants to do upon graduation but is excited to see what opportunities arise during her search.
Lauren Patrick is a senior Communications Studies major with a concentration in Public Relations from Chesapeake, VA with a double minor in Writing & Rhetoric and Human Resources Development. Lauren loves being involved on campus and bleeds purple! She is a Student Ambassador, a member of: UPB, PRSSA, Lamda Pi Eta and she works the front desk at Sonner so come by and see her. Lauren is a little crazy, loves to get to know new people, and will keep you entertained on the most boring of days
Ashley Pond is a senior Hospitality and Tourism Management major at JMU. While she was born in California and grew up in Connecticut, her family currently resides in Sterling, VA. She has one younger sister and will be the first member of her immediate family to graduate from college this coming May 2010. Upon graduation she hopes to work for Loews Hotels at any one of their 17 properties nationwide. She chose JMURJ because of the unique experience it offers to be part of an energetic team that is enthusiastic about their work. She is excited to be a part of such a prestigious production and can’t wait to discover what the future holds for JMURJ!
Andréa Jackson is a Marketing major with a concentration in Business to Business Marketing. She was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia (the Cap City). Upon graduating in May 2010 from JMU, Andréa hopes to work in the sports and entertainment field of marketing. She currently works for the JMU Athletics Marketing Department where she is gaining extremely valuable experience as an intern for the second year. Her dream job is to work for a sports team in Atlanta, Georgia.
Tim Holt is a senior History major from Richmond, Virginia. Aside from JMURJ, he is a member of Madison P.R.I.D.E., the Episcopal Campus Ministry and also is a personal trainer at Hermitage Country Club in Goochland, Virginia. Tim joined the JMURJ's team to help spread the news of the exciting research happening in the JMU community. Go Dukes!
